Learning and developing

Following the EYFS curriculum

We follow the EYFS curriculum by including all the key 7 areas in a child’s development, for example; physical development, communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

Our children continue with fun activities such as sensory play, painting, crafts, messy play, baking, singing and listening to stories. As children get to this age they begin trying to communicate using singular words, we encourage our children to try and take part in small group times with circle games and a short morning time looking at flashcards, to expand these skills. They enjoy free play and being able to explore their new room and more of the outdoor area.

Becoming more mobile

Introducing a structured routine

As our babies become progressively mobile new opportunities for exploration and development occur. Once walking and ready, babies transition to the Poppy Room. Poppy Room also has access to their own nappy changing area, kitchen area and craft cupboards.

Once settled into Poppy Room we like to introduce a more structured routine, while doing this we continue to support a child’s needs and adapt to any circumstances necessary.

Key worker

Your child will be allocated a Key Worker who you will be introduced to you on the first settling in session. The Key Worker will have a chat with you to share information about your child, which will enable them to better understand your child’s needs and to begin forming a relationship. All of our Key Workers have a wealth of experience and up to date knowledge in all aspects of the EYFS. They will provide advice, guidance and support you with anything you need.
